Locking Mechanism
For maximum security casement windows are supplied with shootbolt locking mechanisms as standard. Manufactured by Maco, the new "Mach 3" shootbolt locking system is one of the most advanced locks available today. Built to exceed the requirements of BS7950, the Mach 3 has adjustable throw bolts and is suitable for normal and low handle height applications.
Cycle tested to 50,000 operations the Mach 3, under normal use, should outlive the predicted 25 year lifespan of a PVCu window and also features a triple stage environmentally friendly surface coating. The coating (which is made up of a fine zinc covering, a silver passivate and top layer of Maco wax coating) is approved to 360 hours of corrosions resistance and is thus suitable for use in saline environments. The mushroom cams are set centrally for optimum gasket compression, however, the cams can be adjusted with a 4mm allen key should further gasket compression be required.
Hinges
Manufactured by Securistyle, the Defender range of friction hinges can be supplied in three styles - standard, restricted and egress. All have been tested to 30,000 cycles for maximum reliability and provide easy friction adjustment without metal to metal contact. The restrictor style features a quick release lever to allow the window to be opened up fully, which resets itself when the window is closed. The egress hinge, whilst opening at 90 degrees to comply with relevant part B regulations, also benefits from an easy-clean facility to allow windows to be cleaned from the inside. Furthermore, all styles are available in either ferritic or austenitic stainless steel for enhanced corrosion resistance.
